Green River Rafting Shamanic Adventure, May 2017!

Come have a once in a lifetime experience!  Join Nancy Anderson, Raining Sun Feather, and myself, as we use Shamanic techniques to connect to this powerful ancient river and land.  Below are all the details about the trip!

I am  so excited to invite you to the next Shamanic Adventure for Wolfsongs School of Shamanism.  My wonderful friend, Nancy Anderson, and I will be leading  a 6-day River Rafting Trip down “Desolation Canyon” on the Green River in Utah in May 2017!!!  I had the amazing experience last year of bringing a group of people to Key West, FL, to connect to the dolphins.   It was the experience of a lifetime and inspired me to look for more ways to do Shamanic Ceremonies and Teachings in nature, thus the idea of “Shamanic Adventures.”  Nancy lives in Moab, Utah, and has taken part in several river trips, including this river and the Grand Canyon.  When she shared how much she enjoyed them, I thought, let’s do it!  In my time living in Colorado, I spent lots of time in Utah and it is so stunning.  The ancient landscape has a powerful feel, most of it untouched by civilization.  The intention will be to connect to the river, the land, the Spirits of the land and more through meditation, journeys and just being out away from civilization, sleeping under the stars for six days.  Unplug from the electronic web and tune into the “real” web – the Web of Life, and learn to get in the flow from the river and the flow of all the waters of the Earth.  We’ll be tuning into this ancient landscape for relaxation, healing and letting go of what no longer serves us.

Nancy will be leading a beautiful, ancient Corn Maiden ceremony to set intention and connect to the power inherent in the cycles of fertility and manifestation.  Nancy is a spiritually oriented psychotherapist and group leader, as well as a long-time student of Christopher Beaver’s and Black Bear’s. I have already been thinking about leading morning meditations each day to get us all grounded and connected to the flow of the river and our environment.  We’ll both do other shamanic journeys and techniques along the way as well.   There will be time for hikes into side canyons if desired and time to just be, rest and relax along the river.

Nancy’s partner, Tom, is a professional photographer who has led photography workshops on this river and the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.  His daughter Mikenna is one of the top guides with the rafting company (she may likely be our guide) and she is very experienced and knowledgeable.  So, they know from first-hand experience that this is a great company.  The name of the company is CRATE (Colorado River and Trails Expedition Company) and their website is www.crateinc.com.  Nancy  says that this section of river is a great combination of soothing and fun, that the canyon is magnificent and that sleeping out among the stars is up there with the best nature experiences of her life. CRATE takes superb care of you, cooking great food and thinking of everything.  They are a highly respected and experienced company who have led trips on this river and the Grand Canyon for many years.  They provide one river guide for every four to six people.  We will be traveling down the Green River through Desolation and Gray Canyons in rubber rafts, large enough for 4-6 people.  The guides will do all of the rowing of the rafts.  They have every possible need anticipated.    This river is not highly technical, though there are a few small rapids to create some safe whitewater fun. The company takes many families and people of all ages on this trip.  It is possible to also kayak if people are interested.

Description of River Trip,  Logistics and Cost:

Cost for 6 day river trip - $2365 per person.  3% discount for cash (personal check is fine).

Dates: Tuesday – Sunday, May 16-21, 2017  We picked these days because this is before it gets too hot.

Plan to arrive in Moab on Monday, May 15 at the latest.   If you are flying, there is a small airport in Moab, but most people fly into Grand Junction, CO, which is about 2 hours away.  I have been seeing flights from Charlottesville, VA to Grand Junction for around $600.   I think most likely people will have to rent cars to get to Moab, though you won’t need one while we are on the river, of course.  We will be looking into this seeing what we can figure out as well for transport to and from the airport.

Mandatory group organizational meeting at Nancy's house in Moab (3160 Rimrock Dr., Moab, UT) at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 15.

Tuesday, May 16
- Depart for river trip.  We will leave from the Moab airport first thing in the morning.  We will fly to the river “put in” on the Green River and will embark on the river trip! We can leave cars at the airport.

We will be on the Green River traveling through Desolation and Gray Canyons from May 16-21.

Sunday, May 21
- We will spend our final morning on the river and disembark at Green River, UT, at mid-day. We will be fed lunch at the CRATE warehouse in Green River and shuttled back to the airport.  It will be late afternoon we reach our cars back at the airport.  You will probably want to arrange to travel home the following day, Monday May 22, unless you want to stay and sightsee the Moab/Canyonlands/Arches area  a few more days.  It is very beautiful there, so we would highly recommend spending some time before or after in the area and not rushing home right away if you can.

Cost includes:
